part i.
Character name: Chief Coordinator of the CIA Narvinectrallonum (typically just 'Narvin')
Fandom: Doctor Who (Gallifrey)
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): Time Lord
Character powers: Narvin has no supernatural or exceptionally superhuman abilities, but he possesses the typical range of neat stuff that comes with being a Time Lord. He has a binary vascular system which helps him keep his breath longer than humans, but not indefinitely, fifteen or so minutes being the usual extent of it. He also has two hearts (not that you could tell) that he has a modicum of control over, meaning he can slow one or even complete stop one. Generally stabbing a Time Lord in one heart will not kill them, though it may be damaged beyond repair, preventing them from ever using it again, but they will survive. He also has a more robust immune system than that of humans, which makes him more resilient, but again, not completely immune, to most poisons, and helps him heal physical wounds more quickly. Not Wolverine quickly, but a cut that might last a week for a human would maybe heal in half that time for him.
Also, as a Time Lord, Narvin holds the rudimentary ability to perceive and sense time (that is, when time lines are damaged or broken or some such. He cannot foresee the future). Psychically he can also read minds, but he has to be in physical contact and has to concentrate pretty hard - he usually doesn't, and doesn't like to, use it.
The one ability that Time Lords are known the universe over for (i.e. their ability to regenerate/die and live in a new body), however... Narvin no longer has. If he dies, he dies. It's a problem most people have to deal with, true, but not one Narvin is terribly used to dealing with himself.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion? Narvin isn't very susceptible, but it is possible to bend him to such things, whether through sheer brute force or taking him by surprise. In a phrase I'm sure I'm going to use a lot in this meme: It'll depend on the plot and circumstances, so talking to me beforehand will be appreciated.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain. Well, first of all, Narvin wouldn't willingly let someone read his mind (unless they were very very fantastic circumstances), but forcing your way into his mind can happen, though it would have to be quite a lot of force. And when you make your way inside, it will seem surprisingly empty because then you have to find all the thoughts he's going to try and hide from you and when you find that, his mind is, much like the rest of him, orderly and tidy. Things like traumatic memories and such I will have to request an actual conversation with me for, because other than one event, Narvin hasn't had a terrible lot of trauma as heard in the show, so a conversation on what this will entail will probably have to occur.
As for defences, as a fairly telepathic race, Narvin has both the benefit of that, and of CIA training. Mostly this consists of mental blocks, gates slamming and that, but all barriers can be broken down if you push hard enough, and so Narvin tends to back this up by being able to control his thoughts and fucking with people. Also, even without training Narvin is so repressed and closed-off it provides quite enough blocks by itself.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up? No. Narvin is at least subconsciously closed off about his mind enough for idle thoughts not to slip out.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours? Yes, but mostly they'd just get annoyance, paranoia, frustration, a general sense of cynicism. It'll only be in situations of heightened emotions and stress that anything else will slip out.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned? Telling Narvin that he's fantastically repressed is always amusing for me. And that he should really get laid. (I'm sure these are all things that can be picked up from his thoughts.) As for memories, assuming you can get them, anything involving Darkel will be enough for him to be so annoyed that he might actually go for your neck, and I like that. His memory of having all of his lives stolen may be easier to find because it is so far something that he has difficulty suppressing. Things that should not be mentioned: Timonic Fusion Device and basically anything related to it.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos? I guess what stands out about Narvin is that he doesn't stand out. If you didn't know he was there, you... probably wouldn't know he was there. Once you do realise he's there however, the amount of rigidity in how he holds himself is really impressive and you might have to ask how he does that. He also always keeps his hands behind his back, which some people may find weird.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses? Narvin's immune system makes him resilient to most diseases from Earth, but he's not immune from radiation. Poisons may have a diluted or shortened effect, same with chemical agents. This does not help him against being telekinetically thrown about.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability. Narvin has two hearts, and as mentioned above, a definitely improved immune system than one of a normal human, which is noticeable in his blood, I would presume. Other than that, his physical structure is very similar to a normal human's - perhaps a more durable ribcage because... well. Two hearts. He also exudes (in very subtle amounts) Artron energy, which may be noticeable.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to your character? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly? Yes. I am always cool with Narvin getting thrown about. Anything serious enough to kill or almost kill him, however, I really will need contact for. Vampire bites will most always be unwilling, as Time Lords have had a history of fighting with vampires which is enough for Narvin to not like it.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry? Well, considering that Narvin isn't going to be the one being forced somehow to shapeshift, I don't have problems with this, but I am unsure how abilities would transfer, as Narvin doesn't have any real abilities to mimic.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all? As Narvin is a Time Lord, you'd probably pick up a glow - not the glow of being pregnant (I hope) - but hints of what some people might recognise as Time Vortex. Compared to another Time Lord, however, his will seem quite dim due to the lack of lives he has left in his body.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses? I don't think Narvin has any real defences against magic - if they are not something that effects his thoughts or his emotions, then he will probably be easily affected, though I'm going to have to ask that you talk to me first about this.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)? Yes, but talk to meeeeeee.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event? Narvin can get really stick it up there with his pride, and also vengeance and anger. Temptation will probably work best if they involve a) Narvin getting his lives back, b) restoration of his planet Gallifrey and him being able to go back there.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot? It'd probably only happen as part of a plot?? I guess I'd have to think this over if it comes up.
part v.
1.) Is canon-puncturing or fourth-walling acceptable? We encourage people to tread extremely lightly with allowing their character to learn they are fictional. Yes, because Narvin won't believe you.
2. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances? Yes! All the time. ALL THE TIME.
3. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced? ... I say a hesitant yes. But if characters New!Who mention the destruction of Gallifrey, Narvin will be very, very, very distraught. In his own canon, however, Narvin is as far as you can get, really, so there isn't much worry in that situation.
4. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)? Uhm, I'm not sure, really. If something bothers me I will ask that you stop it, but I can't think of anything right now that I feel uncomfortable with. Oh, but getting drastic in child abuse (emotional or physical) and talking about how it's good for children or er, such things. I request that you don't bring that up to me.
5. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey? Not that I can think of! But if anyone has read to the end of this, though I might have sad a firm yes or no to some of the questions asked, in the end, I will always prefer that you come and ask me because I might be flexible about some of them in some circumstances. That's all.
